Enjoy Porto à la Rafa
Here’s what I do when I enjoy my own city!
My Favourite Spots
FAVOURITE CLASSIC SPOTS OF THE CITY:
Casa Guedes, for a pork sandwich with mountains cheese (although, Mr.Guedes sold it. But still worth it)
Gazela, for the little spicy hot dog called Cachorrinho (it is more of a mid afternoon snack)
Conga, for the Bifana sandwich. It is spicy, and it is more of a mid afternoon snack as well.
CLASSIC DISHES:
Francesinha, which is a dish that most international people are not very attracted to, but you should try. Where to eat it is controversial. Even in my group of friends we disagree. I like to go to Lado B or Capa na Baixa.
Pastel de Nata, which I love Fábrica da Nata (they have two locations).
RESTAURANTS
Flow (good for bigger groups)
Cantina 32 (aaaah the octopus)
Abadia do Porto (traditional and doable for bigger groups)
Zé Bota (traditional)
Herdade 1980 (inside Bolhão Market)
Restaurante Traça
To be fair, you have to go above and beyond to have a horrible experience in Porto
You can’t go without a cocktail!!
The Royal Cocktail Club has a classy vibe in the very heart of Porto’s nightlife;
Torto feels like you are in East Village;
Geezer at The Bridge Club is, as the name say, a club of bridge players that a wine guy and a couple bartenders took over the lounge for proper wines and classic cocktails. At the 7th floor the view is a plus from the lovely terrace. Another plus is they open in the afternoon, for some day drinking, yay!
